Apple are no stranger to legal battles, having been involved in a huge number of them over the last 10 years. One of their bigger suits, a $625.5million case bought against them by Mirror Worlds in 2008, looks like it could be about to be settled in favour of the claimant.

Mirror Worlds sued the California company for patent infringement, accusing the iPod, iPhone and Mac’s OS X operating system of infringing on patents covering methods of displaying documents and information on a computer screen. Reports suggest the trial focused on the Time Machine and Spotlight features of Mac OS X, as well as highlighting elements of the Cover Flow feature.

As you might expect, Apple have disputed the suit, claiming that Mirror Worlds will be triple dipping if it wins each of the three patent infringement suits.

I still remember the 9/11 attacks clearly in my mind and I think for a lot of people the attacks were a reminder of just how vulnerable the world is. Thousands of people, RIP, lost their lives on that day and thousands more were injured and hurt.

We all know that we are in the run up to the 8th anniversary of the 9/11 disaster. Television channels all over the world have begun airing documentaries and films about the disaster. I personally was watching the film United 93 yesterday which is about the plane that did not make it to its destination.

What I found intriguing about that film is how most of the passengers contacted their loved ones to say a final good bye, and it was not just in that film that this occurred. There were hundreds if not thousands of phone calls made from the twin towers before they collapsed.

It just goes to show how good technology can be if used correctly. Thousands of families literally got to speak to their loved ones and more importantly than that, got to convey their message to them even if they were thousands of miles apart. That message will always be remembered.

This is why it so crucial to carry around some form of telecommunication with you, whether it be a mobile phone or VoIP phone, because no one knows what is around the corner.

A convicted murderer has made a death-bed confession to his family, telling them that he had been involved in the murder of several other people whose bodies are allegedly buried under car parks at several of the UK’s busiest airports.

The 67 year old man, whose name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, was serving three consecutive life sentences after having been convicted for gangland killings committed in the 1970s. Moments before his death he confided to his family, who were at his bedside, that he had actually been responsible for more killings and that the bodies were disposed of by burying them in land that was being developed as car parking for Heathrow and Gatwick. Unfortunately he expired before detectives could interrogate him to get more details of who had been murdered and exactly where their bodies had been buried.

It is thought that he had kept the details of these additional murders secret for fear of reprisals that might be carried out on his family by his former underworld colleagues. His daughter said:

‘I think that he wanted to clear his conscience before he met his maker. Unfortunately he passed away before he could give us any more details’.

Police are currently looking into the report and considering whether there is enough evidence to indicate exactly where the alleged burials might have been carried out.

Back in 1978 the man had been tried and convicted for three gruesome murders carried out in South London. Throughout the trial he had consistently refused to provide any information regarding his motives for these grizzly crimes to the police. It was alleged that he had been working as a hit man for a notorious London gang who were involved in prostitution, gambling and drug trafficking.

So when you next book a cheap airport parking space at Gatwick or Heathrow you could be parking on a gangland graveyard.

Diane Schuler, a 36 year old Long Island mother and devoted aunt, had consumed more than 10 units of alcohol and had smoked marijuana within 15 minutes of crashing, head on, into an SUV on the Tacomic state parkway.

She and her 2 year old daughter along with three nieces were killed in the smash which also killed three men in the SUV. She was driving back from a weekend camping trip with a van full of children and camping equipment when the disaster happened. She is reported to have driven the wrong way on the state parkway for up to 2 miles before tragically crashing head-on into the SUV.

Details of her alcohol and drug consumption were revealed by her autopsy. It is thought that these factors made a significant contribution to her having driven the wrong way for nearly two miles. Her blood-alcohol level was found to be more than twice the states legal limit and a broken Absolut Vodka bottle was found in the wrecked minivan.

Series number 10 of the popular reality TV show Big Brother is already anticipating record viewing figures after whetting peoples appetites with news of how new contestants will need to compete for a place in the house.

The eight men and eight women will have to compete to earn a place in the house. Initially they will all be living in one room, eating nothing but porridge and enjoying none of the luxuries that we’ve seen in previous series.

The new competitors will have to sleep on the floor, eat cold porridge and don’t have access to a bathroom. To wash they will be forced to use a bucket and tap in the back garden. Once they become official house-mates, on Sunday, they will have access to the bedrooms.

It is rumoured that they will be joined by previous BB house-mates to celebrate the 10 year anniversary on the 14th of July.

Producers have disclosed that contestants are aged between 18 and 40 and they are the most cosmopolitan group that they have ever had in the house.

There have been many rumours regarding the tasks that the new contestants will face in order to potentially win the £100,000 prize money. Some have said that previous tasks have been too easy or that some contestants weren’t adequately penalised for not completing tasks successfully.
